Scouts BSA Advancement

Scouts in a Troop advance at their own pace, based on their personal interest and drive to succeed.  While each rank builds on the next, Scouts are able to work on requirements for the early ranks in parallel; Scouts also can work on Merit Badges in any order and on any timeline they wish, so long as all tenure requirements are met and all work is completed before their 18th birthday.  The latter ranks (Star, Life, & Eagle) have specific tenure requirements and Merit Badge requirements that must be met before a Scout may advance to the next rank.  More details can be found in the following resoures:
